SO KNOWLEDGEABLE, THE LIBRARIANS

I returned a book on the 18th of March. On the 22nd, I looked for the book on the new book shelf where I got it and it was not there. So, I looked it up on the catalog and saw, "Item Being Mended".

I inquired at the Circulation Desk, what this meant and was told that it means the status of the book is being changed. I explain, I thought it meant the book was being fixes in some way and was curious as to what may be wrong with it. I had it for the first check out, renewed it for a second time, and noticed nothing wrong with it when I was reading it, or when I returned it.

I also inquired whether the clerk looked the book over, and was told they do a quick perusal. I also inquired at BST, and was told it could mean the book was in need of repair, ie; pages needing gluing, or something of that nature. I inquired at the section where the book would be kept with Mr. Hewitt Reynolds who could not give me much information as to what may be wrong with the book or when it would be back on the shelf.

I gave up after three inquiries and absolutely no consensus among the three sections.

TODAY THE BOOK IS LISTED AS "CHECKED IN". GUESS IT'S MENDED, WHATEVER THAT MEANS
